"almost kidnapped"

Girl Nearly Abducted While In Her Garage
Douglas County Detectives Searching For Suspect
MDT May 29, 2002

DENVER -- The Douglas County Sheriff's Department is searching for
a suspect who allegedly attempted to kidnap a young girl in Highlands
Ranch.

The incident occurred last week in
the Southridge section of Highlands
Ranch.

An 8-year-old girl told police a man
grabbed her arm and tried to pull
her to a waiting car.

The girl and her mother had just
returned home from shopping when
she went back to her mother's car, which was parked in the open garage,
to retrieve her mother's purse.

While in the driver's seat of the vehicle, the girl noticed a small gray car
slowly pulling up in front of the house and an older man walking up the
driveway, Douglas County Sheriff's detectives said.

When the man walked in the garage, the girl got scared and tried to close
the car door, but he grabbed the car door and held it open, detectives
said.

The suspect then grabbed her right arm and tried to pull her out of the
car and the garage. She screamed for her mother, but the suspect
grabbed her leg, the girl said.

She managed to pull away, and the man started to run down the
driveway. But the girl told detectives that he had a limp, and could not
run very fast.

The suspect got into his vehicle, described as an older gray Honda, and
sped away.

The girl's mother came out of the house in time to see an older gray car
leaving her driveway and turning east onto Wildcat Reserve Parkway.

The suspect is described as white man about 50-years-old, just over 6
feet tall, with gray hair and a short gray beard.

He was possibly wearing a teal green or blue short-sleeve shirt.

If you have any information that could help investigators, call the Douglas
County Sheriff's Department at (303) 660-7579 or (303) 660-7548.

I wonder if he just happened to be cruising by and saw a target or if he had followed them.

A limp and unable to hold onto an eight year old?

Strange.
But I'm sure unrelated to the well-planned attack on Jonbenet and the massive strength displayed in that case.

2. "5 years ago"
In response to message #1

If they find him, they need to take his DNA and compare it to all open case wherever.

5 years ago he might have been stronger and bolder. Who knows?

He might have been stronger just 4 months ago when Danielle was taken - who knows what caused his limp - could have been an accident since Danielle's death.

Sometimes SickPuppies travel. That's why we need a national data bank.

3. "National data bank?"
In response to message #2

In these days of distributed databases and federated databases there does not seem to be much of need of a national database. Even if a national database existed, its the local agencies that have to initiate the queries.

Highlands Ranch is where I have relatives.

Which reminds me. There was another case in this town that was mentioned on this forum several months ago. It was about a girl whose neighbor (?) broke into her house and tried to attack her.

Go KINGS!!!

This is a very interesting article about kidnappers.

It even notes that some sexual predators who abduct children will even ask for a ridiculously small ransom to convince others--but mainly themselves--that they aren't sexual predators.

6. "Minimalist nature?"
In response to message #5

I don't know if asking for an absurdly small amount of money, almost a token amount, would give some sort of emotional plausible deniability. Perhaps the intruder in JonBenet's case is attempting to deny pedophilia desires by saying to himself: it was an exercise in deception (the note); it was a real kidnapping (the ransom) it was not sexual (the minimal activity)... but it seems to me that this intruder knew just what he was doing and is not trying to diminish his role or disguise his true motives at all.

I think JBR's killer would be very upset if anyone thought he sexually assaulted JBR after death. JMO

8. "Necrophiliac?"
In response to message #7

I guess even pedophiles are proud that they are not necrophiliacs and don't prefer "cold meat".
