Rachel Cooke's Father, Robert Cooke is an active missing children's advocate on the Shawn Hornbeck Search and Rescue web site. Shawn, who was 11 years old has been missing since October 6, 2003. http://www.shawnhornbeck.com

On September 8, 2003 Mr. Cooke posted a special message regarding a self defense class for women that is to be held on September 29,2003, as follows:

"I have an information sheet created for the M.U.S.T Women's Self-defense Class on September 29 in Georgetown, Texas. I hope those of you living in Central Texas will consider attending the class."

Sam- I have read some of Robert Cooke's journal online- it is both amazing and heartbreaking to read.....
this man has incredible strength. I would recommend it to anyone to read some of the journal...it really gives you a perspective on how the family copes.

My prayers are with the Cooke family- and especially with Rachel. A beautiful young lady....I hope she is returned to her family soon.

Almost 2 years since Rachel went missing and her father Robert just had his first weekend off to go through her belongings. This is so sad and I don't know how any parents are able to cope with something like this. To be jogging in her own safe neighberhood and just vanish.
No clues, no leads, no witnesses--NOTHING !!!

...Rachel Cooke is missing like so many other missing in this forum and across our country. Robert Cooke is doing everything he possibly can to bring Rachel home and to help other missing children.

Please help me understand...
This is a portion of news article on a post from the Laci Peterson forum.

"..Terry Fleck, a dog handler who has contracted with various Tahoe-area law enforcement agencies for 20 years, said dogs could track a scent even if Laci Peterson was in a moving vehicle, such as a boat trailer attached to a pickup.

"Scent percolates off of a person and drops to the ground," Fleck said. "You don't necessarily have to walk the route."

Teams of dogs can track over long distances by "leapfrogging" -- where one dog goes miles ahead on the last known trajectory and tries to pick up the scent, Fleck said.

"As long as the scent is available to the dog," Fleck said, "they can work it."

What I don't understand is why if Fleck is so right then why can't all of our missing children be found ?

Rachel, like so many other missing children was jogging, some of the missing kids were riding their bikes, while others were walking their dogs, or walking to/from school and their dorms etc. Why can't LE use the same methods to find these kids ??? I know LE does use K-9 so why not find the kids?

First he's only one person to several thousand missing people. The guys from Metro, Shawn Hornbeck, Laura Recovery and a great many other SAR and K9 units would love nothing better to find everyone who's missing.

Second like he said in the news clip there has to be a scent to follow. Scent is a fickle thing, it can be covered up by something more powerful, washed out by rain, automobile exaust and rubber from the tires can do searious damage to a scent trail. Or if it's just a high traffice area the scent can be quickly burried.

Some of these dogs can do amazing things, but they, like their handlers, have to work with what their given. Or, that big bad nasty we keep running into, Funding. Training and certification isn't cheap and most of the time that money isn't donated, it all comes out of the handlers pocket. While we'd all love to track and trail until everyone is found, alot of times finances prohibit it. The dogs can't really focus on what their doing if their handler can't keep them in kibble.

...an imposter username 'justgravy' stole Rachel Cooke's photo from her family web site or the FBI or on the www and attempted to steal her identity by uploading to www.facethejury.com ( not for kids ) and claiming it was herself ? When complaints were filed, the thread was locked. Rachel's photo should no longer be there. it was removed over the weekend... I say FBI catch the darn culprit, you can follow the path to hir door !

Sometimes a little rain will enhance the scent. I've never heard of miracle dogs that can follow scent in moveing vehicles for 80 miles.
But I have seen dogs in action and they can track if trained properly.

I was just advised by Robert Cook a task force has been formed and a new investigation will begin shorly to try and find Rachel and who is responsible for her abduction.
The prviouse sheriff before he resigned wasn't very co-operative.
This is good news.
