Defense: Prosecution holding back reports that could clear Scott Peterson
By Brian Anderson

REDWOOD CITY - As many as 10 people could be responsible for or have information about the killing of Laci Peterson, a defense attorney charged today, saying prosecutors failed to provide reports that will help clear her husband.
In a passionate plea for Judge Al Delucchi to intervene, Mark Geragos said he had not received information relating to witness interviews as well as suspected blood stains pulled from Scott Peterson's boat.
Someone has even taken responsibility for the Dec. 23 or Dec. 24 slaying, Geragos said, pointing out that he had not received all the information related to the revelation.
For the first time in many months, Geragos went into further detail on what he said he believed cleared his client.
He cited dramatic evidence revolving around five stains in Peterson's boat that police had suspected were blood. But laboratory tests conducted as late as December showed that the stains were not human blood, Geragos said.
He also said investigators examined hair samples pulled from duct tape detectives had thought were related to the case. The samples, however, did not belong to Laci or Scott Peterson, Geragos said.
"They have report after report after report of investigations that were taking place in December," Geragos said. "These items are negative for my client. I've got pages upon pages of hair comparisons that exclude my client at every single point."
