Laci Peterson's Mother Sues to Block Story Profits

Laci Peterson's mother Sharon Rocha wants the court to grant a preliminary injunction against Scott.

Laci Peterson's family filed a civil lawsuit Friday against her husband, Scott Peterson, to keep him from receiving money for selling his story, even as he awaits trial in connection with her death.
The lawsuit, filed in Stanislaus County Superior Court in Modesto, California, named Sharon Rocha, Laci Peterson's mother, as the plaintiff.

Rocha wants any proceeds or profits that may go to Scott Peterson to be put in a trust until a verdict is reached in his trial.

Scott Peterson, 30, is charged with killing his pregnant wife and the couple's unborn son, and could face the death penalty if convicted.

In the lawsuit, Rocha alleges that Peterson and unnamed others "have solicited, arranged payment for, received or will in the future receive 'proceeds' from the sale of rights to or materials that include or are based on the story of a felony for which Peterson is charged with and may ultimately be convicted."

Rocha wants the court to grant a preliminary injunction against Scott Peterson and people connected to him to prevent them from "expending, disbursing, transferring or otherwise utilizing such incomes, funds assets without the express authorization of this court."

The remains of Laci Peterson, 27, and her unborn child washed up in San Francisco Bay in April, 5 miles from where Scott Peterson said he was fishing Christmas Eve, when his wife was last seen.

Police arrested Scott Peterson on April 18 on charges of killing his wife and unborn son. He is being held without bail.

I'm not sure which channel I was watching but I saw mention that an upcoming crime show will mirror the Peterson case. I was half asleep but also remember mention of "Law & Order". Has anyone else heard this?

I feel so sorry for Sharon the same as I always do for the victim's familys. It seems in this case it's about money...little do they realize that those dollars will never erase the memory of this terrible tragedy and the loss of Laci and her baby.
