"Amazing to watch "

I am watching the discussions around the other crimes and watching people here and how they are reacting... it is amazing to compare it all to what happened in 1996-1997 with the Ramseys.

Danielle was missing - the cops did NOT suggest it was a domestic incident. They seemed to ignore the fact that the window of opportunity for an intruder was so small... or that Brenda could NOT alibi Damon at all. The letter from Danielle to her father seemed to be of NO importance to them. Imagine if they had found that note from JonBenét to her father!

The Smart case. Lots of workmen in that house - - some of interest - - and the cops didn't hesitate to seek them out for questioning ane publicly.
In the Ramsey case they encouraged the public to believe it was a domestic incident - - even the mayor made a statement clearly indicating that - - and why? The mayor later said it was to save the children from fear. Not based on the evidence.

The Runnion case - I am NOT putting Erin down in any way, shape, or form. I feel that she is one truly innocent person who was victimized by a monster just as he daughter was. But I watched the news, the huge service - - and she was there - - in RED. Good grief - - I can only imagine how the BORG would have used that against Patsy. And the statements she has made. All perfectly understandable - - and many just mirror Patsy's thoughts when her daughter was taken - - - but Erin's are taken as honest while Patsy's were used as arrows against her.

Cassandra's case - - another where the suspect has been named - - and the parents can say just about anything and be relieved of all guilt (maybe)...

It seems to me that people can accept the parents as victims as long as they have someone to hate - - a face.

They never got that in the Ramsey case - - but there were faces of suspects out there. Still -- the BPD wanted the focus on the family -- and the BORG did focus.

The evidence is there - - the suspects are there - - and we need a special investigation to match them.

Nope.
The evidence and suspects were always there, but so what? Do you really think that the tabloids were ever interested in anything other than the various permutations of John, Patsy and Burke Ramsey?
Do you really think the BPD wants this case solved? Or that the Chamber of Commerce wants it solved?

If the tabloids happened upon a video tape of the JonBenet Ramsey murder showing who did it and how it was done... it would neve see the light of day. Its simply too profitable and too entertaining to go after the parents. The Chamber of Commerce would like it to just quietly fade away with everyone thinking 'well, they couldn't prove which parent it was, but it was a domestic thing, not a neighborhood thing'.

You've mentioned several cases from recent headlines. The newspapers did not harp on the VanDam's "interesting" life style, nor on their "unique" child rearing situation involving such things as that letter. Nor have the media excessively focused on the parents in the other cases. The Mayor of San Diego did not go on local TV to 'calm the city's fears' by implying parental involvement in the Danielle case.

Very early in the Danielle case I opined that the parents were obviously guilty because there were no footprints in the snow around their San Diego home. Amidst all the laughter, one thing should remain quite painfully obvious: such flimsy and misleading soundbites condemned the Ramseys to perpetual suspicion and forever consigned the case to wrong track.

2. "Evidence of intruder in bedroom"
In response to message #1

I see mention--well, more like a challenge thrown out!--that the intruder into JonBenét's bedroom didn't leave any evidence of himself there.

I don't know if that's true or not. We've learned alot more about evidence that exists in the JBR case since Smit came forward and shared part of his Powerpoint presentation. There is more evidence than we know about.

The fibers from the cord around JonBenét's wrists on the sheets of her bed is something not known until the paperback version of the Ramseys' book was published. There may be more inside the bedroom than the public has been allowed to know.
