"who's writing a book"

Linda Hoffman Pugh? I don't think there really is a book. Never thought so.

Tom Miller finished his - - so his wife says - - and she says he is looking for a publisher. I think publishers willing to put out a Ramsey book are going to be few and far between.

Jeff Shapiro, Michael Tracey and Jeff Merrick all said they were writing books - - no news on them. I think Shapiro's would be especially interesting. I would buy them all.

Who else?

It was thought that I was writing a book all this time - - and I was not. I have the TimeLine which has become larger than a regular set of encyclopedias, but that is a reference book, certainly not to be published.

After great thought, I have decided that I will put together "a book" for my family. I don't expect it will ever be published - I don't need that in my life - but I want my kids and my grandkids to know the Ramsey story I know. The truth as I saw it.

I decided to do this project some weeks ago but didn't have a lot of time to devote to is as other things were more pressing. (I have been working as a consultant on a couple Ramsey projects - - and yes, I have been paid. Flaming can start now, but the fact is that someone was going to do the work and be paid - - they wanted to hire the best and I have bills to pay.)

So.... things are quieter and I will be working on my own Ramsey project starting now and won't be so visible on the forums.

The forums will remain up through 2003 - that is guaranteed, one of the first things I did with my consulting feewas toput money in the bank so that will happen. Regardless of that, members will still be expected to help pay the costs as before - $50 a year is reasonable and cuts down on the flaming furies playing games. So if only 10 people join, we will still be here. If more join, we will have better discussions. The money is not the issue. Doesn't that sound good?

I will remind members that the forums are what the posters make them. Members who want good discussions should start them and contribute to them. This is a great group - I expect it will continue to be great.

Members who want to see forums on new cases need only to ask - - if they will moderate the forum, keep the forum current and the discussions going, they can have a forum here. Mikie has the Oregon cases, LadyBug has Missing Kids - - jameson certainly never did do it all - - and doesn't need to.

I am not leaving - - certainly I will be following the Ramsey case closely as always. I am going to devote the next 6 months to my project - a book that will likely never be published - - something I do for me.

To those out there who have information and documents they want to share - - I would love to hear from you. I am still documenting this case. Please email me at jameson245@aol.com (I don't accept files - too much danger there.) Put the info online and send the URL or send the files in regular email or by snailmail to me

I would love to read your book. Are you going to be selling it to us?

Probably not. I am taking the easy way out - it is FAR easier to write a book for the family alone and not be concerned about publishers and critics.

Sounds good. Sign me up, and only nine more to go!

I've always thought that you and MM could pool your resources and come up with a heck of good book. In fact, there was a time a couple of years ago that it did appear the MM was writing a book. In any case, I don't think it would be practical today because the stun gun chapter would be hopeless. :) Still, just based on my observations over the years, I think there is the potential of a good team there.

Be that as it may, I wish you the best of luck in this project. I'll bet it will be a lot harder than you imagined, and a lot more rewarding than you ever dreamed.

   No flames.
As you say, you have bills to pay.
The archival function is not without some costs too.

Someday, the family members will read the book and understand the time and energy that was devoted by the few who demanded facts and logic while others were all busy willingly devouring the tabloid generated swill of parental involvement.
