"In November, the justices will consider District Attorney Mary Keenan's appeal of a federal ruling last summer that struck down Colorado's law barring grand jury witnesses from discussing their testimony."It has been a year since Darnay Hoffman went to court and won - - - the witnesses who spoke to the Ramsey grand jury could talk publicly about their experiences. To date, not one of those people has spoken out - - not even Linda Hoffmann-Pugh who brought the suit promising she was going to write a book.
Mary Keenan is fighting a ruling that produced nothing....
Oh yeah, silly me. She isn't worried about the Ramsey case at all - - doesn't seem she has done a single thing with THAT case.... she is worried about grand juries in OTHER cases!
I still think that the witnesses should be allowed to talk about their personal experiences if they want to.
Remember the Rock Opera Tommy? He witnessed a crime and was told he didn't see it, didn't hear it and would never speak of it..... he became blind, deaf and dumb. Now I understand that was hardly how things happen in real life, but some people don't do well when they can't talk things out. I am sure some of those witnesses need to talk for their own emotional well-being. I do NOT think an endless gag order is justified. Hell, in the Ramsey case, it has been YEARS since anyone testified. No one has been arrested. It seems Boulder isn't actively investigating anything... why NOT release the information? If people knew what happened in there, they might actually get a piece of the puzzle they need to solve this mystery.
What could the truth really hurt?
