1. "Dowaliby documentary"
In response to message #0

The link is for "today", so it didn't point to the JBR program. I checked the guide for yesterday, and it appears the 2nd Tracey documentary is being shown on an A&E show called, "The Real Story". It's not going to be shown again this month.

I found this while looking around, though:

Tuesday , September 10 01:00 PM - 02:00 PM The Real Story
A Parent's Nightmare

David and Cynthia Dowaliby are tried for the murder of their 7-year-old daughter in 1988, but both are eventually cleared because of lack of evidence. One of the most widely covered and controversial murder cases in Chicago in the 1980s and '90s, we'll see why many still believe that the Dowalibys are guilty.
TV PG

Also shown at 7pm eastern, 6pm central.

2. "Second Tracey doc?"
In response to message #1

I heard it was going to air in the states, but not on A&E.

You sure they are talking about the new one?

A&E owns the rights to the one made in 1998.

No, I'm not sure - read it on another forum but couldn't find it. The only one I could find was the one Bill Kurtis did on Investigative Reports - the one in which the Ramsey investigator gives a tour of the house. It can be ordered for $24.95 So it isn't the first Tracey doc either. Running time is listed as 50 minutes.

Sorry about that. Unfortunately, aande.com only shows what is coming up, not what has already shown.

On the plus side, the Dowaliby documentary will be a decent consolation prize. I've never seen it.

For those who aren't familiar with the Dowaliby case, tune in and see what happens when an arrest and trial follow a case similar to the Ramsey case, minus the ransom note.

If you want to know more, read "Gone in the Night" an incredibly good true crime book about this case. Of particular interest was the judge's ruling when the defense came up with so many instances of little girls getting kidnapped from their bedrooms in the general area where the Dowalibys lived. They were allowed to present only two of them in the courtroom, the judge being afraid any more might prejudice the jury.

Bill Kurtis and A&E's Investigative Reports IS the first documentary made by Mills and Tracey? They sold it to A&E who added the Bill Kurtis touch?

The second Mills/Tracey doc was aired in the UK on July 4th, 2001 but has not been seen here in the states. I understand it is expected to air here in a matter of weeks. Hope so, it was a really good show.

The focus of the first program was the investigation - - the focus of the 2nd was the intruder theory and they show some of Lou Smit's powerpoint presentation.

Edited to say - - the program was NOT the Mills/Tracey documentary. It is a completely separate program, one I never saw before I received the tape in the mail today - -

IT WAS A NEW AND TERRIFIC PROGRAM!

Wasn't the 1st Tracey documentary long enough to fit into a two hour time slot? I think I'll just dig it out and watch it - it's been a couple of years.

6. "Upcoming TV programs"
In response to message #5

The second British doc focused on Lou Smit and his intruder presentation. They have added a bit to it - - footage never shared with the public before - and that should air in a few weeks on Court TV. No date set.

CBS will be having a program on the Ramsey case as well - - it will not be the same as the Mills/Tracey show. That show will also have new stuff - - a DO NOT MISS. CBS expects to air that on October 4th but that date could, and well may, change.

8. "RE: ordering the A&E program"
In response to message #7

The Bill Kurtis program was first aired on the day that the BPD was in Atlanta interrogating John and Patsy.

The old ad:

INVESTIGATIVE REPORTS: JonBenet: Anatomy of an Investigation
Airs Monday, August 28, 2000 at 10pm/9pm CT

Investigative Reports: "JonBenet: Anatomy of an Investigation" puts the JonBenet Ramsey case under the microscope.
Three-and-a-half years after the brutal murder, the case is trying to
stay warm. But will it ever be solved? In this episode, Bill Kurtis
seeks to discover where the case went wrong. What caused the
investigation to become irreversibly damaged, and who is really to blame for not bringing JonBenet's murderer to justice?

We look at the Boulder police, a small town police department that —
with its record of only 16 homicides in a decade — was just too
inexperienced to handle a high profile case like this alone. We talk to the Boulder D.A. about where he thinks the case went wrong and what
mistakes he made.

For the first time, the lead FBI agent on the scene the day JonBenet's
body was found, talks to us about when the F.B.I. was called into the
case and what mistakes were made that have put the investigation into
the precarious position it's in today.

And finally, we ask John and Patsy Ramsey the hard questions about why
they weren't more cooperative in the investigation into their daughter's death.

This is the story of what went wrong in the JonBenet Ramsey
investigation - and what happened to justice on the way to finding the
killer of this little girl.
