"Don Foster thread"

LAST EDITED ON Nov-25-03 AT 09:40 AM (EST)

I know it is redundant to some of you but there are newbies coming here all the time and so a Foster thread is always necessary.

In September of 1998, we saw Thomas and Foster on 20/20 - - and we knew Foster was working with BORG Thomas. In October, I went to Boulder.

In February, a headline said, Grand jury to examine work of Vassar linguist and the story by Matt Sebastian laid it all out in the Boulder Camera.

He wrote, "Although he has not testified before the secret panel, Vassar College professor Donald Foster said he and prosecutor Michael Kane, who is presenting the case to the grand jury, have been discussing the matter.

"I've been in communication about how my work should best be presented but was asked not to discuss it," Foster said, declining to elaborate.

"...a source close to the case told the Daily Camera last fall that Foster compared the language of the ransom note to Patsy Ramsey's writings and concluded JonBenét's mother penned the 2˝-page note.
In fact, officials attending a two-day presentation of the case that detectives made to prosecutors in June called Foster's evidence crucial to the police theory of the crime, the source said."

Now, I would like to point out that everyone knew about Foster's earlier letter to the ramseys proclaiming their innocence - - Matt Sebastian wrote about that letter in his story!

"... six months before going to work for Boulder police, Foster wrote to Patsy Ramsey, saying he believed "absolutely and unequivocally" that she was innocent. Surprised police and prosecutors didn't find out about Foster's letter until several days after the June case presentation.

Last fall, when news of his letter to Patsy Ramsey surfaced, Foster refused to elaborate on his apparently contradictory analysis. "I think that will be entirely explained in due course," Foster said in October."

Suzanne Laurion, the Boulder County district attorney's spokeswoman, declined to comment...

It was about that time that Larry Schiller and Carol McKinley went on TV and publicly stated things like "Foster will be a key witness to secure an indictment" (my quote, not theirs - - but it is what they were saying.)

I went forward to make sure that didn't happen. If his letter to the Ramseys was not enough to totally discredit him in this case, I knew the letters I had would.

I did what I believed to be the right thing. I have no regrets.

Foster has since been exposed as .... let's just say he was wrong in a couple other matters. The big one being his attribution of the Funeral Elegy to Shakespeare - - an act he seems to have based much of his career on!

I have a page up on Foster - and there is a forum at http://www.webbsleuths.org - but I want to make sure his name and actions never leave the Ramsey forum. I will continue to have a thread on Foster here.

And I will continue to offer him a place to speak out on his deeds. No editing - he can have his say.

His claim that he can't speak is a lie - he can say anything he wants - just as Thomas did!

His silence is deafening.

Abigail wrote, "The photograph of the guy on Jameson's forum is not Professor Foster."

Then Clock responded, "Then what the heck is the witch doing with that weirdo's photo on her site. That is SICK and MISLEADING!!"

LOLOLOL - - yes, Clock, the photo does appear to be of a weirdo - but, Abigail, it certainly is Don Foster - a photo taken before the Ramsey case, before his Shakespeare error was exposed.

Don't believe me? Just ask him!

Rita wrote, " Tom Wickman still believes the case will one day be tried in a criminal court of law. His hope is that one day forensic linguistics will be widely accepted in the courts and then the case will be prosecutable."

She is saying that a police officer who no longer has any hand in the investigation is still holding on to some hope that the discredited star witness Don Foster may make the case for them?

Is someone putting LSD in the water out there in Boulder? Or is it just Rita?

A question was asked - "If Micheal Kane had agreed to Susan "Jameson" Bennett's "CONDITIONAL REQUEST" to see the Ramsey Grand Jury, would Susan "Jameson" Bennett have cancelled her appearance on the CBS 48 Hours?"

No. By then Donald Foster had appeared on 20/20 and District Attorney Alex Hunter had refused to talk to me in person (I went to his office before we had taped anything and he refused to meet with me in person) so I had agreed to appear on 48 Hours because it was the right thing to do.

On 4/08/99, I posted a message to Donald Foster

You could have stopped this at any time. I wish you had.
You had to know the truth would be told.

I only wish I understood why you let it go so far

That was a sincere post - he had the power to stop all of it at any time - he chose to go forward. Apparently he regrets it. I think he should.
