Re: Media tatoo of parental involvement.

With both the tabloid and the mainstream media having spent years beating a constant tatoo of parental involvement and CourtTV's Catherine Crier having so recently declared the "Intruder Theory" to be 'off the table', what prompted 48 hours to take a more investigative, analytical approach?

How long did it take 48hours to discover the existence of Oliva?

Had 48hours known of the prior discussions in the forum about Oliva under the name "Thomas Aquinas"?

Did Oliva go to the BPD for protection from Oregon Police?

How long did Oliva serve time, where?

Is he on medication?

Did he take drugs frequently?

Did he know any of the others involved, like Fleet White, Chris Wolf, or McReynolds?

Did Oliva have family in or around Boulder? Many have speculated that most people would be with family or friends for Christmas - but the homeless often spend holidays alone. I wonder if there was a Christmas meal or service which brought Oliva into the vicinity of the church that night.

He may not remember where he was that year for Christmas, but family, friends or church workers might recall seeing him.

You mentioned that Patsys fingerprints were on the bowl
(Her prints would be on every plate or bowl if she
was the person that emptied the dishwasher) but you
did not mention that Burkes prints were also on the
bowl. JonBent's were not. Why was this bit of information
overlooked?

1. What led to Oliva living on the street? When?
2. What does Michael think was the turning point in Oliva's life that led to the disturbing tapes?
3. What are Oliva's political views? What makes him angry?
4. What brought Oliva to Boulder in 1996? Where did he go when he left and where has he been since?
5. Why did he return?
6. What are his interests? Movies? Books? What kind?
7. Did he serve in the armed forces? Try out for any police force in years past?
8. The black tape on his folio in the anniversary photo-where did that come from? What was in the folio?
9. Did he attend college? What were his interests?
10. I take it that he knows about his friend "Michael" bringing up the tapes and the "sobbing" i hurt a little girl phone call. I understand he claims he doesn't remember making the tapes. What about the phone call? Does he deny that?
11. Have the Oregon police indicated whether or not they will be testing his dna? I would think so as he may be a suspect in some other crimes there.
12. Do you have any of his handwriting samples dating from 1996 or before?

Is Gary Oliva interested or involved in Satanic worship?
If so, did he practice any ritual on the Satanic holiday of December 22nd?

It is my understanding that, originally, you planned to air some information on another individual, Helgoth, which was tabled to cover the investigation into Oliva. I can understand this, but also wonder if you will show the Helgoth material? Do you plan to follow up on either person, or others?

"Erin Moriarty: "Did you ever use that stun gun on a child?"

Gary Oliva: "No""

Questions for Mr. Oliva, if you talk to him again:

1. Did you ever use **ANY** stun gun on a child, or anyone else, a woman?
2. Why did you strangle your mother? Did you use a garrote? Do you have a problem with women?
3. Why would JonBenet "show herself" to you? Why after her death? How did this occur? A dream? A vision? Did you see her, or just hear her talking? What do you think this means?
4. What kind of a person do you think killed JonBenet? Were they trying to tell us something? How do you think they did it? Do you think it was an accident-a sex "game" that got out of hand?

but I think that goes beyond what you can answer. I rewatched the first 48 hour special where Foster was exposed. So..here are my questions:

l. Would Michael be willing to answer questions from us?

2. Do you know why Oliva turned himself in....and why did he agree to be interviewed on TV? Was he paid? I believe the Boulder Police Dept. issued a warrant in 2000---and all of a sudden he turns himself in?

3. Could you ask the Boulder Police Department if the cigarette butts they took in as evidence were tested for DNA? Oliva asked for a cigarette on his way out.

4. How far do you think you can go with this? You've done 2 specials--anymore planned?

5. What made you interested in revealing the "rest of the story" in the Ramsey case?

For a period of about three weeks that ended the night before JonBenet Ramsey was murdered, the "Midnight Burglar" was entering houses around Boulder through unlocked doors, stealing credit cards and other valuables. A press release reported that the stolen credit cards had not surfaced anywhere. Because stolen credit cards have their highest value before they are reported missing, it seems curious that someone would steal these cards night after night, at great personal risk, and not sell them or use them. It is almost as if he was taking these things out of habit while looking for something else, like a stun gun, for example.

Now we have reason to believe that Churchmouse was engaged in burglaries around Boulder. The "Midnight Burglar" ceased operations the night before the little girl who Churchmouse would later express a desire to "build a shrine" for was murdered.

My question is, would CBS consider looking into any possible connection between Churchmouse and the "Midnight Burglar", and, if no connection exists, check to see if any of the victims were missing a stun gun. Also, it would be helpful to know if any of the stolen credit cards ever surfaced.

Hey, no one said the questions had to be easy!

edited to add:

My interest in the "Midnight Burglar" stems from the fact that he was the one person in Boulder who had proved beyond any doubt during the weeks leading up to the murder that he was capable of entering the Ramsey residence and moving about undetected. According to the press release, none of his victims even knew he was there until they awoke to find things missing. If my memory serves me correctly, at least one victim had something stolen from the nightstand right next to the bed where he was sleeping.

Jameson, I would like to know from 48 Hours whether the Oliva tapes contain in movie references or movie quotations? That would be interesting. Has the BPD even listened to those tapes yet?

One reason for asking about how Oliva lived from day to day is this: Many of the homeless in my city hang out at the library. Wonder how a fairly intelligent transient in Boulder might pass the time...what books might they read..could he bum enough money to see a movie now and then. How did he make the tapes? Do they have a room at the library where they play and record tapes? Did he quit making them when he lived on the streets?

Is Oliva willing to stay in contact with you and answer other questions? A dialog with him would be very interesting. I would like to know if he ever had a friend named Michael Helgoth - - a guy whose family owned a junkyard. Or John Kenady. If they knew each other, that would be very interesting.

What was left out of the program that you thought important?

Did he talk about mental illness? Is he under treatment? He has been described as a paranoid schizophrenic, some of which have a relatively high level of functioning. Oliva appeared quite coherent on the TV show.

Did Oliva say what he did Christmas Day and Night in 1996?

Did Oliva express an interest in true crime or technocrime movies?

I guess I snooze I lose. The same old people asked 5 or 6 questions. That's what I get for taking 2 days to carefully consider what I want to ask, instead of asking irrelevant questions.

If you send in any more questions, I'd really like to know if, during the investigation, they talked to the Linda Hoffmann Pugh family members and what 48 Hrs impressions were of Linda and her family.
