#0, red fibers IN ligature
Posted by jameson on Oct-05-02 at 09:58 PM
I was asked my thoughts on this and here they are...

Patsy owned a red sweater and jacket - apparently she wore them.

The paint tote was hers and she obviously carried it and handled the things in it.

Finding fibers from Patsy's clothes in her tote is hardly evidence of guilt.

The stick was taken from the tote and the garrote was made using that stick. Having fibers similar to fibers found in the tote in the ligature is not indicative of much.

That particular bit of evidence doesn't point to OR FROM Patsy. Anyone going to the basement and making a garotte using that brush was in contact with the fibers in that tray. The fibers, once we all knew were found in the tray, became unimportant.

(I would also point out that the PBI theory has Patsy getting out of bed and changing from her PJ's back into her clothes to take JBR to the basement to murder her. How insane is THAT?)

There could have been multiple sources. The ligature was still around JBR's neck when she was taken upstairs--there could have been some transfer of fibers. We are not hearing the whole story on the fibers, IMO. The paint tray was put downstairs shortly before the party. Who knows what it came in contact with while upstairs--afterall, it was the Holiday season, and red a pretty common color.

Patsy bought her jacket because she had admired one that Priscilla had.

Similar fibers?

Wouldn't the lab reports be interesting?

Did they compare Priscilla's jacket as well?
