Why would a perp bother to draw a heart on her hand in the first place if he was going to intentionally make it appear to be drawn by the child herself. If the perp drew it, it is an intentional clue like the words "piggy" and "helter skelter" were to the Manson family. Anyone leaving their "mark" on the crime would not disguise it to look like a child did it. That perp would want it to be pronounced, easy to see, and a mystery pointing to the "unknown" intuder, like the Boston Strangler's bows.
