Meanwhile, the couple, who are under "an umbrella of suspicion" in the slaying of kiddie beauty queen JonBenét, have launched a last-ditch effort to clear their names.

Not quite right. The Ramseys have had quite a year - - patsy had chemo and John found a job, they moved and saw CBS and Court TV air some good documentaries on the case - - and they are now pushing for the investigation to be reopened so the killer can be identified and punished. Yes, it will clear their names too - - but that was not the priority here.

"The Ramseys have kind of run out of options," says their attorney, Lin Wood. "They are considering now whether they have any legal right to try to open up the records of this investigation to the public and whether they have any legal right to have this case transferred from the Boulder Police to the Boulder Sheriff's Department, where there are competent and experienced homicide investigators."

Wood recently released taped depositions of three key investigators in the case - ex-DA Alex Hunter, former lead detective Steve Thomas, and current Boulder, Colorado police chief Mark Beckner - in an attempt to show his clients are innocent of the unspeakable crime. The depositions are linked to a lawsuit against the Ramseys filed by someone they fingered as a possible suspect.

This is not news to us following the case. I can'twait until the deposition transcripts are released so we can see just how the lawmen handle the mistreatment of people when the evidence did NOT point to them.

Matt Lauer, who interviewed Wood on NBC's Today Show Oct. 28th, pointedout that while the investigators admitted that there was noevidenceto link the Ramseys to the murder,"There's nothing to rule them ut, just yet."

But Wood insisted the tapes show that the parents have been totally checked out by lawmen and are clean.

"The depositions revealed that the only individuals who were thoougly investigated in this cse were John and Patsy Ramsey," Wood told Lauer. "And the investigation came up empty in terms of any proof of their involvement."

I wish the Globe had published a copy of the CBI report that said the Ramseys could not have been the source of the DNA mixed with JonBenét's blood in her panties - - - but the tabloid would never do that - - it isn't the BORG thing to do.

Wood says the Ramseys believe investigators failed to check other possible suspects because they were too busy trying to pin the murder on them.

But Boulder authorities insist they left no stone unturned in their 6 year probe and investigated "about 140" possible suspects.

Boulder authorities lie. They did not properly investigate Oliva, Gardiner, Helgoth and many other very reasonable suspects. The evidence is there - - it says the BPD failed to do a complete and honest investigation. Too bad every copwhoworked on this case wasn't deposed. Oh what a story that would expose!

Still, this may be Patsy's last chanceto clear her name. the former Miss West Virginia is currently battling a recurrence of her ovarian cancer which first surfaced in 1993.

The battle is over. She tookthe treatments, the canser is gone. She is recovering nicely and NOT expected to die from cancer anytime soon. But that story wouldn't sell a tabloid - - so they lie. Shame on those reporters.

An eyewitness who recently saw the coupletells Globe, "Patsy didn't look well. She's obviously put on a bit of weight and looked much older than her 45 years."

"Her face and hands were all puffy and bloated. Shewas wearing a black pantsuit to try and hide the excesspounds and an unflattering wig, which didn't do her any justice.

meowwww

And former computer tycoon John also looks worse for wear. "John had on a grey suit and a bow tie," says the eyewitness. "He's losing his hair and hasn't aged well. The stress is obviously getting to him."

When I hear these catty remarks, I always wonder what the person talking looks like. The tabloid mole I met was a skank - unkempt grey hair, overweight, dumpy to the max. Wonder how she thinks a man should look after 6 years like John has had. Whatever. the tabloid wrote its story - - it is pure spun BORG. Nasty and untrue.

Story by Shelby Loosch and Dawna Kaufmann - - may they one day have to face their own venom - karma is not kind to people like that.
