Judge Considers Release Of Some JonBenet Files
Fleet And Priscilla White Want Access To Records
Posted: 11:10 a.m. MDT September 13, 2002

BOULDER, Colo. -- A district judge will consider a request by two
former friends of JonBenet Ramsey's family for access to some of the
police files kept in the investigation into the girl's 1996 slaying.

Fleet White Jr. (pictured, left) and his wife,
Priscilla, have asked officials to turn over files
involving a California woman's claims that the
Whites were part of a child sex abuse ring that
contributed to JonBenet's death. Police have said
there is no evidence to support the woman's
theory.

Boulder District Judge Lael Montgomery told the
couple at a hearing Thursday that she will rule on the request.

"This has been swept under the big rug, and this is our attempt to pull it
out and see what it is," White told Montgomery, acting as his own
attorney.

The Whites requested access to some of the investigation files in a
three-page document filed June 24 in Boulder District Court.

Police Chief Mark Beckner has refused their request, saying the file is
part of the investigation and not subject to disclosure under the state's
criminal justice records laws.

JonBenet Ramsey, 6, was found strangled in the basement of her family's
home in Dec. 26, 1996. Police not charged anyone in her death.

Fleet White was with John Ramsey when Ramsey found his daughter's
body.
