Shawn Hornbeck Search and Rescue
Welcomes Newest Team Member

Richwoods, MO – January 1, 2003 – Trax , an 11 month old German Shepard is the newest addition to our search and rescue efforts. He has been in training since he was approximately 6 weeks old and is a certified man tracking dog in inclement weather on multiple surface conditions. He is also certified on cadaver scent. Trax will be in attendance at the Shawn Hornbeck Benefit Night on January 3, 2003 at the Carpenter’s District Council Hall on Hampton Avenue in St. Louis Missouri. The event is from 7:00pm to 12:00am, with a demonstration of his tracking abilities planned through a mock search scheduled for 8:30pm.

Staff members Daryel Simmons and Kim Hann both successfully completed a Scent Handler Exchange Course with Trax. All training and certifications are thru Baden K-9 Tactical School; trainers of world class working dogs for Personal/Home Protection and for Military, Federal, State, Commercial and Search and Rescue use.

After a short acclimation period and a little rest, Trax will begin assisting in the search for Shawn Hornbeck, and is available, along with the rest of our search team, to respond to lost or missing child incidents on very short notice throughout the region. Both Craig Akers and Chris Diamond will also be trained as handlers for Trax, and will undergo certification in the coming months.
