"BREAKING NEWS: SARAH ROBERTS FOUND, ALIVE!"
Posted by Justice_seeker on Jul-23-02 at 01:23 AM (EST)
Thank God! A very happy ending for this family!!
July 22, 2002
Watch this story in Windows Media.
<img src="http://www.katu.com/news/images/story2002/020722robertsblack.jpg";>
Missing Lake Oswego girl found
LAKE OSWEGO - Lake Oswego police say a 16-year-old girl missing since Sunday evening has been
found unharmed in Washington State. Police said she was found in the Seattle area but had no
further details. They said she was found at about 9:40 p.m. Monday evening.
Her parents reported Sarah Roberts missing after she drove to Tryon Creek State Park to go jogging
with her dogs. The dogs were found locked in the car she was driving.
Police combed the park area today looking for her. The FBI had also joined the search for Roberts.
About 100 searchers from various law enforcement agencies, aided by helicopters and dogs, were
combing the urban park Monday, looking for any trace of the 16-year-old. The terrain at the park is
steep and rugged, and the hot weather in the Portland area forced searchers to look in shifts, so
they would not be overcome by fatigue.
By midafternoon, they had completed a search of the signed paths through the park, and could
conclude that Roberts had probably not fallen and found herself unable to get to safety.
The Roberts family had said there are no family problems that might have caused Roberts to run
away.
Police were puzzling over why the two family dogs - a black Labrador and a black chow mix - were
locked in the car, especially since Sunday evening was relatively warm and pets should not be left in
the car in such weather.
Roberts' hair has recently been dyed black and her eyes are brown.
Sarah Roberts will be a junior at Lake Oswego High School this year and is on the softball team. She
lives with her parents and has one older brother.
<a href="http://www.katu.com/news/story.asp?ID=48845";>http://www.katu.com/news/story.asp?ID=48845<;/a>

Table of Contents

Runaway?, DonBradley, 07:58 AM, Jul-23-02
Not so sure it was wasted time..., Monty, 08:26 AM, Jul-23-02
Probably let go, Snapple, 08:42 AM, Jul-23-02
or maybe, jameson, 09:50 AM, Jul-23-02
Press conference scheduled, Mikie, 09:50 AM, Jul-23-02

Messages in this discussion

1 . She could have been abducted and dumped, etc. Let's wait to hear
more.

3 . "Probably let go"
Posted by Snapple on Jul-23-02 at 08:42 AM (EST)
I don't think she would leave her dogs. Most girls who are kidnapped are released, not killed, when
someone is finished with them. Most non-parental abductions don't end in murder.
However, perhaps the police don't want to put it all in the paper and embarrass the girl.

5 . "or maybe"
Posted by jameson on Jul-23-02 at 09:50 AM (EST)
she saw some friends and they talked her into going with them "just for a little while' but time got
away from her.
I think if she had been abducted, they would have been most anxious to warn the public - - I think
this girl was where she chose to be.
Kids do stupid things sometimes.

4 . "Press conference scheduled"
Posted by Mikie on Jul-23-02 at 09:50 AM (EST)
Later this morning.
She apparently went on her own. Why would she leave dogs in her car? The only thing I can think of
is drugs. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.
