#38, Open letter to the Camera

When Amy Hebert called me and asked about my decision to leave the Ramsey discussion, I advised her that I was not interested in discussing the decision with her, that I didn't think it was worth a story - and I still feel that way. Had to be a real slow news week to chase THAT story. She assured me that the story was going to be written so I told her a few things.

1 - the decision was personal and the reasons would not be shared. Obviously something (or things) did prompt my decision, but that has nothing to do with the Ramsey investigation. The reasons, made public, can't get justice for JonBenét, and I see no reason to share that information with the world.

2 - I felt that everything I had done was reasonable, honorable and morally right. I have NO regrets over MY actions. If I failed at times, it wasn't for lack of trying. I was devoted to my efforts and regret nothing.

3 - I felt that the things I wanted to see accomplished HAD been accomplished.
a. The lynch mob has been quelled (except for a few who I think must be mentally ill to be still standing there wanting to crucify the Ramseys after seeing Lou Smit's evidence and reading the statements by Federal Judge Carnes and DA Keenan).
and
b. The investigation is now in the hands of a special investigator and team who I believe is dedicated, honest and capable of solving this.

4 - Amy misquoted me when she wrote, "'I have full faith that they will solve it, so there's really nothing else for us to do,' Bennett said..." What I said was that there is "nothing to do now but WAIT." I feel my words were twisted.

I let Lin Wood know about the call from Amy and he told me he thought he would simply make no comment. I urged him to speak to her - - partly because the letter he wrote condemning me when I made a decision he disapproved of is still on the net and there was nothing out there really showing that we had come to an understanding on that - - agreed to disagree nicely on the decision I made to share the tapes with AMI. (Lin understands now that I did NOT "betray" the Ramseys - I wanted to replace a book of hateful tabloid stories with one of truth. He still doesn't agree with the decision, but he understands it and we buried that hatchet long ago. I doubt he would use the word "betray" now, it isn't appropriate. He didn't agree with the decision, he knows it wasn't a betrayal.)

So he spoke to her. And she wrote about that interview...

"...she betrayed their trust last year by selling transcripts of a police interview with them to the National Enquirer for $40,000, said Lin Wood........... He said the National Enquirer sale was the only time he had ever taken issue with her."

Interesting enough, there are no direct quotes - - but you will see some direct quotes from Lin in a minute - - - direct quotes from an email he sent to me.

The email that follows is shared with Lin's permission, Lin obviously feels his interview was mishandled, twisted.

Jameson:

I just read the Daily Camera article. I knew if I talked to the reporter that the Enquirer issue would overshadow my other comments. I praised you for your courage in the early years and for your major contribution in exposing the fraud of Don Foster. I emphasized that you were different from the other Internet "Ramsey junkies" because you were truly personally involved in working on the case, not just taking a position or making an argument on the Internet. I commented on your forum's excellent work in recent months on the 911 tape.

When the story did not run on Wednesday, and Amy called me back on Thursday, I decided to comment to demonstrate to you that the Enquirer issue did not have to be the last word on my feelings about your contributions to the Ramseys and JonBenet.

Reading the article, I should have gone with my first instinct and refrained from comment.

Interestingly enough, Amy decided to expand the story - called a poster who is part of the BORG (pronounce that "lynch mob") to get HER take on the situation - - but never called one of my posters or supporters.

Amy wrote,"Tricia Griffith, whose site forumsforjustice.org targets the parents as suspects, said there are still 'incredibly dedicated people' online committed to finding the truth about the case."

Boy oh boy - - read that again and note where the quotation marks are - - is this the sign of a BORG publication or not?

Tricia is not talking about people searching for the truth, she is talking about a few incredibly dedicated lynch mob members who are still accusing the Ramseys of horrible things with NO evidence that anything they say is true.

Some will swear on a bible that Geraldo played the 911 tape on his show long ago - they HEARD it. John yelling at Burke. They HEARD IT! Geraldo denies it was ever played on his program (he is right) so they are saying he is lying about that. Delusion is their middle name - - all of them.

Tricia is quoted further:

"In my view they're going away because they don't have anything left to talk about," Griffith said. "The Ramsey supporters can't argue anymore because every one of their points has been refuted."

My response is this- - BULLSHIT! "They" are going nowhere that I am aware of. I am leaving - - one supporter is leaving. Big deal. New information is scarce so the discussion is slow, but it has continued. On many forums.

Tricia's second statement is simply absurd.

The DA has stated for the record that the weight of the evidence points to an intruder. The BORG can deny the facts and argue using suppositions, innuendo, myths, lies, and flames, but they haven't made a case against the Ramseys. For Amy to give credibility to Tricia's delusions was simply wrong.

The resulting story was, IMO, a nasty piece of work.

Lin was right, the right decision would have been to make no comment - the poison pen doesn't need quotes.

The story published was shameful - - a typical BORG endeavor.

The Boulder Camera should be ashamed.

I am asking that this letter be published as a letter to the editor, uncut. I doubt it will happen. But I can assure you that the letter WILL be published online exactly as written here.
