Groups like the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League (NARAL) are asking their supporters to ask Congressmen and Congresswomen to vote AGAINST this common sense Bill.

The "Unborn Victims of Violence Act" is a deceptive bill that threatens women's rights. Although supporters of the bill claim that their goal is to protect women from acts of violence, their true intent is to undermine Roe v. Wade . Congress can address crimes against pregnant women through other, more effective means, which do not threaten women's rights.

The Unborn Victims of Violence Act, also known as “Laci and Conner's' Law,” would ensure that a criminal be held accountable for the TWO Victims in a crime against a pregnant woman in which an unborn child is injured or killed during the commission of a federal crime.

This much needed fetal homicide legislation calls for a change in the law's singular focus -- holding the perpetrator accountable for two victims, the mother AND the baby.

The case of the horrific murders of Laci and Conner Peterson have brought this bill to public attention. Sharon Rocha, Laci's mother and Conner's grandmother, has spoken out and is asking for this bill to be passed.

Quote from Sharon Rocha:

“This bill is necessary to ensure that in the future, no mother who loses her baby in a criminal attack is later told by state authorities, ‘We are sorry, but nobody died in that crime.' It is necessary to prevent any surviving grandparent, such as myself, from being told, ‘In the eyes of the law, you lost a daughter, but not a grandson.'
