Danger lurks: Always take caution the route from the Peterson home on Covina, Modesto to the fertilizer warehouse on Emerald, West Modesto. For that matter caution everywhere.

" A security guard at Club Suave said he heard what sounded like a car backfiring about 12:15 a.m., so he went outside to look around, according to officer Chris Fuzie, a police spokesman.

Fuzie said the security guard found the wounded man lying in the parking lot and called police.

Club Suave is in the corner of a shopping center at Kansas and Emerald avenues, just west of Highway 99. It was the second shooting at the club in the past 17 months and the 17th homicide in Modesto this year, two shy of the record 19 in 1997."

People are shot all over this country everyday, we all do not break the law and arm ourselves.

I live in Los Angeles, believe me I've thought about it.

Why would they bother running the test, or taking the swabs if you cannot get gunpowder on your hands by firing this type of weapon?

I will do a bit more research, but I believe you can get residue from ANY weapon, and you don't even have to be the person that fired it.

Edited to add: Though I agree and it is against the law to carry a loaded gun, we may find there are more that do for their own protection than those that don't. From Covena Ave to and from the area of Emerald warehouse is not the safest in Modesto.
